Copernican Orrery

A Copernican-style Orrery showing the positions of the 8 planets and their primary moons as well as our moon's phase.

The Orrery is a model of the solar system as view from celestial north, and orientated

such that solstices occur when the earth is due-north (top, winter solstice) or

south (bottom, summer solstice) and the equinoxes are east (right, autumnal equinox)

and west (left, vernal equinox). All orbits are assumed to be perfect circles.

The position of the Earth and Moon are fairly accurate, as are their orbits. The remaining planets positions are approximate, but close enough considering the size of the typical phone or tablet screen. The starting positions of the moons other than that of the Earth is not accurate. The orbital periods of all planets and moons is accurate relative to the other planets and moons.

De Orrery is een model van het zonnestelsel als uitzicht vanaf hemelse noorden, en georiënteerde

zodanig dat zonnewenden optreden wanneer de aarde is het gevolg van het noorden (boven, winterzonnewende) of

zuiden (bodem, zomerzonnewende) en de equinoxen zijn oosten (rechts, herfst equinox)

en het westen (links, lente-equinox). Alle banen worden verondersteld perfecte cirkels zijn.

De positie van de Aarde en de Maan zijn vrij nauwkeurig, net als hun banen. De overige planeten posities zijn bij benadering, maar dicht genoeg gezien de grootte van de typische telefoon of tablet-scherm. De uitgangsposities van de andere dan die van de Aarde manen is niet nauwkeurig. De omlooptijden van alle planeten en manen is nauwkeurig ten opzichte van de andere planeten en manen.

Deze app moet worden beschouwd als gewoon iets leuks om naar te kijken, maar niet iets te serieus te worden genomen.</div> <div class="show-more-end">
